Press Release June 5, 2011

Ocean Township, NJ, June 5, 2011: The Oakhurst First Aid Squad played host to the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division. The Field Communications Unit of the Monmouth County Police Radio Room stopped by to teach the local first aid squads protocol for emergency communications. MCPR Training Coordinator Scott Neilson instructed the local agencies in the new and updated policies and procedures of multiagency communications. As our local first aid squads, as well as fire departments, are being called into surrounding towns on larger scale incidents, it is imperative that all members be familiar with communications at the county level to insure smooth operations. Joint training is necessary to guarantee that everyone will be prepared should a large scale incident occur.
Senior Public Safety Telecommunications Officer Ed Horn led the class on a tour of the “Field Comm” unit. This communications truck is mobilized when an incident requires three or more agencies or when requested by a single agency where assistance is needed with communications.
Local squads in attendance along with Oakhurst First Aid Squad were, West Long Branch First Aid Squad, Hatzalah Volunteer EMS (Jersey Shore Division), Elberon First Aid Squad, Holmdel First Aid Squad, Middletown First Aid Squad, Action Ambulance Service, and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
If you would like to join the Oakhurst First Aid Squad and perhaps become a member of this team, please email OakhurstEMS@aol.com.
